Bakery Items

Baked items are common to find in boba shops, generally in a smaller display case by the register. Blending European and Asian baking techniques, some pastries you may find include:

Red Bean Buns: Anpan, or sweet red bean bun, is a classic Japanese pastry with sweet red bean paste inside a soft bread.

Milk Bread: Generally calling for tangzhong, a Chinese warmed milk-and-flour slurry, milk bread is fluffier and softer than regular white bread.

Pork Floss Buns:

Pork Sung Buns (also known as Pork Floss Buns) are made with a milk bread base, and a thin layer of mayonnaise is spread on top. That’s what allows the pork sung (basically a mild form of shredded pork jerky) to adhere to the top of the bun.
